Summary: Yamaguchi Kumiko, or Yankumi for short, is the new math teacher at Shirokin Gakuen. Although the school is notorious for its delinquent and ruthless students, Yankumi doesn't seem fazed. Inspite of her delicate and petite figure, she is actually the ojou-san (mistress/daughter of the house) of the Kuroda Yakuza Group and her martial arts skills are top-notch.

Comments: It's funny how anybody who tries to hurt Yankumi's students gets a beating. Yankumi's passion for teaching is admirable and she is really really strong. Plus she looks like this chem teacher I had in college.

Many people like to compare Gokusen with Greatest Teacher Onizuka because of the similarity in plots but for what its worth, I liked Gokusen but didn't like GTO. Dunno.

Gokusen also has a 12-episode live drama version (starring Nakama Yukie, who was Sadako in Ring 0, in the lead role) and a 13-episode anime version.
